Superb pictures with a theme, as the title suggests, of the Great Western Railway. The book was issued as part of the GWR 150th birthday celebration. Very fine condition.

A Bond for 126 Roubles in coin, (20 Pounds Sterling), paying an Interest of 4 per Cent per Annum, created by Agreement made in St. Petersburg, 1885. Issued, signed and sealed by all concerned. 11.25" x 16". Engraved in an ornate bank note style in black and light brown on cream watermarked paper. Full text in Russian, with on the verso a full translation in German and French. Seemingly this has not been cancelled. A scarce piece that is excellent history. Slight foxing and a little age discolouration but without damage.

No. 0L98 in the "Oakwood Library of Railway History." 8.5" x 6", cloth boards in an as new condition wrapper. 6 + 234 pages with many photos, numerous drawings & diagrams, several facsimile reproductions, and a plan, all in text. A detailed and comprehensive biography of one of Britain's foremost chief mechanical engineers. He served an apprenticeship at Swindon Works, afterwards became an assistant to his father at Bristol, moved to Ireland where he was Locomotive Superintendent for the Waterford & Limerick Railway, but is most famous for his work on the Great Central Railway at Gorton Works. An excellent account. Generally very fine condition.
