235-0247. Japan, Tourist Guide and Time Tables, including other places under Japanese control or influence. Published in Japan, probably circa 1930. 7.25" x 4", pictorial limp cloth cover, titled with yapp edges. Some 820 pages, including several maps some of which fold out, and numerous photos showing various scenes of interest. Japanese text throughout. It would seem to be very comprehensive, giving information on the places and their attractions and facilities. and on the railways, tramways, cableways, roadways and sea connections. We have no knowledge of the Japanese language but it is certain that whatever is described in this book will have changes almost beyond comprehension in the seventy or so years that have passed since it was produced, it is undoubtedly excellent history and scarce. Most certainly it will please, the outer binding is a little marked and the spine is sunned but all is complete and otherwise in very fine condition.

By Freins Jourdain Monneret, Paris. 23" x 39". Company print in full size, showing detailed front and right side elevation external views. This is the vacuum brake ejector unit as used on steam locomotives, in this type the main control lever is on the right side of the device when facing the boiler backplate where it would be mounted. Folded in very fine condition.

This gauge is for mounting adjacent to the boiler back plate and shows vacuum reading for both train pipe and reservoir. Nice items. Folded in generally very fine condition.

Maffei for the Semmeringbahn, Austria, the oldest mountain railway in the world; and of the latest diesel locomotive by the company, type ML 2200 CC, with the results of test running over the Semmering Line in 1957. A very good item.

An account of working steam throughout South Africa during the late 1960s and 70s. Showing no less than 85 different classes of locomotive, which were built in Britain, Germany, the U.S.A., Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Italy and South Africa. Capturing the last days for many of these machines in superb action pictures. A very nice book. Very fine condition.
