Picture size 4.5" x 6.25", on an extracted page of The Illustrated London News. 23rd April 1853, 15.75" x 10.75". Showing the building from the forecourt roadway, there are severaL pedestrians and horse drawn vehicles, and some construction work is still in progress. Together with "United States Railroad Car." 2.25" x 9", and 3.75" x 2.75". Showing a side and end elevation view of a very ornately decorated bogie passenger carriage. Including a quite lengthy text article. Good history. This is without folds and is in fine condition.

German text. Giving an overall technical account of contemporary German railways in all aspects. Historically important in covering this period immediately prior to the First World War. Very scarce. Some wear to binding at top and bottom of spine and bumped corners of boards, but content has been little used and is in generally very fine condition.

234-4231. "The Elevated Railway, Third Avenue, New York." Wood Engraved Drawing. Picture size 6" x 9", on an extracted page of The Graphic. 4th January 1879, 15.5" x 11". Showing a three carriage train on the overhead railway, hauled by an 0-4-4 locomotive. Below in the busy street a horse drawn tram is passing through, with several horse drawn wagons and carts, and many pedestrians. Not a motor vehicle in sight, which would seem strange just a few years later. Generally fine condition.

A splendid book by this famous railway author and artist. Ottley 6693. Very fine condition.

This combines a memory of the railway with its original purpose, the traffic of slate. Near mint condition.
