232-3304. Pennsylvania Railroad Company, ..... Station. Written from "Irvin". Large Headed Letter. 2 pages written in 1885 to a solicitor in Falkirk, Scotland, disputing the amount of money left to him by his recently deceased Mother. He concludes the letter by saying "of course I want my share, and if the matter cannot be settled satisfactorily by letter I will come over to Scotland and see about it." Clearly there was trouble ahead for someone! It is signed by "Edward McLuckie" who is presumably a new American settler and is working for the railway. A nice piece with a good story. Very fine condition.
232-3305. Railway Guards Universal Friendly Society. Sixteenth Triennial Festival Dinner. The Committee desire to be honoured by the Company of "The Rt. Hon. Lord Stalbridge" at the Hotel Metropole, (London) on 11th May 1905. His Grace The Duke of Portland, will preside. Dinner at 6.30 for 7 p.m. Invitation card, from the General Secretary of the Society, London. 4.5" x 6.5". The Patrons were His Most Gracious Majesty The King, and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. Treasurer, The Rt. Hon. Lord Wolverton. Together with a further string of Lords and Earls as Trustees. I know not how the railway guards fitted into this exalted company. Very nice history. The card is in very fine condition.
232-3306. Investiture of The Prince of Wales, Caernarvon Castle. First Day of Issue. Official Pictorial Cover by PhilArt, which includes illustrations of H.R.H. Prince Charles and of the Castle. 4.25" x 8,.75". With G.P.O. commemorative stamps "Tywysog Cymru 1969 Prince of Wales", and has three different 5d each showing a view of Caernarvon Castle with red dragon flag flying, and a 9d showing a Celtic Cross, and a 1/- showing a portrait of the young looking Prince Charles. All are cancelled by rubber stamping "Day of Investiture, Caernarvon, 1 July 1969." Superb history. Very fine condition.
