Toasts List and Menu for Guests. 9.5" x 6.25", light card, 4 sides. Title in gilt on cover with red silk ribbon set in a bow. Impressive. The Lord Mayor, Sir Ralph Perring, and Minister of Transport, Ernest Marples, among those present. Very fine condition.

228-0931. Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway. Debenture Stock. Bankers Receipt. First Call on One Pound per Share on Ten Pound Shares. 10" x 8", green on cream. Written in December 1856 for the balance on 255 Shares. Signed over a "One Penny" gummed Revenue Stamp. Generally fine condition.

228-0932. Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway. Locomotive Engine Numbers 1 to 5, & 52. Alteration of trailing end of engine. Manuscript Engineers Drawing. No. 1308, dated 11th May 1868 and signed. The master drawing executed at the Locomotive Drawing Office, Gorton Works. In ink and water colour. 25.5" x 37" on linen backed cartridge paper to a scale of 3 inches to one foot. Showing a general arrangement view of part of the engines trailing end, in fully detailed side and end elevations and sectional plan, with dimensions and constructional notes. The alteration involves strengthening the main frame (which most surprisingly for this company are single frames), and giving better protection to the open footplate from the rear coupled wheels. A superb piece, some age grubbiness and showing signs of use but without damage.

Office copy, not as issued to individule staff members. 10.75" x 22.5" company print, to a scale of one-quarter inch to one foot. Showing a semi-detailed side and end exterior elevation view and interior plan, with major dimensions, weight, and brief notes. This a through corridor with 2 first compartments, 8 seats, and 3 thirds, 18 seats, 1 lavatory, 2 brake compartments. These show the carriage as first built, all are rubber stamped "B.R., L.M.R. Derby" and dated 1957/58. They are rolled and in very fine condition.

228-0955. Midland Railway Locomotive No. 999. Colour Illustration, from an original painting in the style of F. Moore. Probably lithographed by Alf Cooke, Leeds. circa 1910s. Picture size 4.25" x 7.5", laid down on card, overall size 6.25" x 10". Showing the express 4-4-0 engine and six wheel tender. This and that following are most suited for being framed for display, indeed illustrations of this type have been used to enhance the interior of passenger carriage compartments during the first half of the twentieth century. Very nice, bright picture in very fine condition.

London: Her Majesty's Stationery Office. 1956. Original printing. 13.25" x 8.25", printed paper cover. 2 + 30 pages + 2 large fold-out drawings. An horrendous happening in which a four-coach electric passenger train running under clear signals collided with the rear of a 42-wagon steam freight train. Very fine condition.
