Being the original translated document by M de Barbachino of Santander, who acted as Broker and Interpreter of the contract from the English, written 23rd November 1866. For the English Engineers, John Stephenson and Thomas Stephenson to construct a railway in Galicia. 12.5" x 8.5", 11 pages manuscript in ink, stamped and impressed with official dated seal in three places. Signed, dated and rubber stamped by Barbachino. Spanish text. The contract includes details of payment to the Stephenson's and a very lengthy inventory of itemised costs for the work to be carried out. All monies remain in sterling. An important and unique piece of history. Obviously a once in a lifetime opportunity. All in fine condition.
