A biographical account, the author started his railway career as an engine cleaner with the L&NER at Stratford Locomotive Depot in 1940. There is much of interest regarding the lines to North Woolwich and others in the London area. As new condition.

The author is well versed with the book trade, at this time working for HMSO, the government publisher, as well as being knowledgeable about this her local line. This has a dedication to a previous owner written on the half title page, otherwise in near mint condition.

For the construction of Engine and Tender, Works No. 1150, dated 1899. On 2 sheets, 26" x 39" & 19" x 27", of linen backed cartridge paper, in ink with parts in colour gouache, to full size. With detailed drawings showing elevation, plan and section, with dimensions and notes. The locomotive went to the Caledonian Railway. These are unique pieces that will please. They have a little age grubiness but are untorn and rolled.
